Sport

LEARNING BEYOND THE PE CURRICULUM – curriculum development in PE is supported by an extensive extra-curricular programme which raises students physical experiences by up to two hours further activity (depending on the individual activity). These activities are delivered by experienced PE and coaching staff and have a dual focus namely raising participation levels and improving individual and team performance.
Participation – We believe in helping students improve life choices by raising awareness and participation in a wide range of activities not always catered for in the core curriculum such as skate boarding and mountain biking. We also hold regular house matches both during and after college to enrich the overall impact Physical Education can have on the holistic development of  students and fosters inclusion between genders, ability levels and year groups.
Community links – We work closely with our local clubs (West Exe Netball, football, hockey etc) and coaches to provide a ‘seamless’ transition from our extra curricular programme to community provision and life long participation in sport. This involves taster sessions, advertisement and supporting community sport by using our facilities.
Performance – We ensure students have opportunities to take part in regular competitive fixtures and competitions in a wide variety of sports and provide coaching sessions for player development.

For offsite extra-curricular fixtures and activities, we ask parents/carers to complete an annual consent form for their child to participate. You can download and print out a copy of this form from our PE resources page.
